Types of Membership
I. Full Membership
Full membership to the IIA is open to any property and casualty insurer licensed
(domestic and foreign) to do business in Illinois that has met the eligibility requirement.
As a Full Member, you will have the following privledges:
- Voting privileges on the Board of Directors and all committees.
- Members will chair all IIA committees.
- Members will receive all IIA mailings and services.
- Domestic and foreign companies can become full members but
must be approved by a majority vote of the Board of Directors.
Full Membership Assessment Formula
Full membership assessments are based on all Illinois property and casualty direct
written premiums based on two years prior to the year membership is sought.
For example, to calculate membership assessment for the year 2008,
fill out the assessment worksheet based on the year 2006.
II. Associate Membership
Associate Membership to the IIA is open to other organizations or business enterprises whose mission, purpose
and business objectives are the same as or similar to that of the Illinois Insurance Association. To be eligible, an organization seeking membership must be incorporated
under the laws of any state. This class of membership shall have no voting privileges
on the Board of Directors or committees.
As an Associate Member, you will have the following privledges:
- May attend all committee meetings as working members but cannot
chair a committee.
- Will receive all mailings except those pertaining to the Board
of Directors and those regarding policy decisions.

III. National Trade & Other Insurance Association Memberships
Other Membership is open to other trade associations or Foundations whose membership and mission is
directly related to the interests of the property/casualty insurance, life insurance,
health insurance or financial services industries and who maintain a current exemption
under U.S.C. 501(c)3 or 501(c)6. This class of membership shall have no voting privileges.
As a Member of this group, you will have the following privledges:
- May participate on IIA committees but cannot chair a committee.
- Will receive all mailings except those pertaining to the Board
of Directors and those regarding policy decisions.
- Will pay a yearly membership fee of $3,500.
